Yayhooray gives corporate america a facelift, Web2.0 style 2006 07 25

A small, but talent packed, collection of designers who often frequent the Skinnycorp curated community, YayHooray, have taken it upon themselves to give corporate America a push into the new millenium by applying the wildly popular Web2.0 stylr© to their respective brands.

Web2.0 is going into it's third year and has already changed the face of the Internet and includes strong proponents such as Flickr, Bloglines, Google and del.icio.us. Web2.0 is often described as the next generation of Design Patterns and Business Models, but it is more easily recognized by the sugar sweet, dipped in liquid ice graphic designs.

Characteristics often present in Web2.0 applications include:

  • A large Trebuchet typeface coated in pastel gradients and draped in a liquid coat.
  • Clear declaration of current development status (typically denoted as "BETA").
  • Following the above trends, normally these designs are placed on a large reflective (or shiny) table, for a true 2.0 effect.
  • Often logo marks are placed at an extreme corner and utilize negative white space.
  • Another common trend is to manipulate domain names, like del.icio.us or script.aculo.us.

You can see this impressive collaboration in an aggregated format, or browse through submissions from the original source. This showcase has been recently featured on Web.20 news sites such as digg.

Arnaldo Rabelo 2007 07 19 This is ridiculous. We can't design logotypes based on "trends" of the moment. A logotype must last a long time. A logotype must help to differentiate the company from the competition and turn clear the main benefits, values and unique style to the public.

Hitler 2007 04 10 whatever. they were jew's not people.

Walt 2007 04 10 Indeed, most were very well done. Some are even better than their originals.

Ryan 2007 04 10 Yeah! Take the Hitler thing down. What do you think this is? A place where free speech is allowed? Christ, you should be ashamed for exercising your rights! corth = Idiot.

Perry 2007 04 08 Krispy Kreme 2.0ughnuts love it hah

meloncully 2007 03 24 like in southpark... you have to wait 20 years before its funny :s Is there any kind of photoshop actions for the generic '2.0' look? I got a real kick out of all the logos that were re-done, very good job

corth 2007 02 18 Um, the Hitler thing is really really in poor taste. Making a joke about 6 million people being brutally tortured and murdered is a bad idea. I'd say take it down before someone gets really upset about it.
