Flickr Findr and Extjs 03/04/2010 09:04:19 PM

When the YUI team announced they were re-writing core components for the move to version three, I decided to start refactoring all my apps, both personal and work, in Extjs. And I was even more excited when the Extjs team announced Core Ext, a bare bones, nothing but the basics version. This meant I could dump libraries like jQuery and Moo tools, neither of which are my taste.

Now that I have implemented several small to medium sized website using Core Ext, I have decided to start storing all the components for re-usability. Instead of using a component model, I am taking a different route and just creating widgets. It just seems to fit this kind of development better. So far I have an accordion, lava lamp and tool tip. I have started on a form and data table, but both are only experimental. And just recently I re-vamped an old mechanism I made to let you find the owner of a Flickr photo simply by pasting in the photo URL, the Flickr Findr

I'll post updates here as I add new widgets, I have 2 others coming on the way in the next few weeks, as well as working towards completing some of the experimental widgets. You can check them all out here!
